strawberry pie baked from scratch recipe

Strawberry pie baked from scratch

Who would’t love going back in time just to have a bite of they’re grandma’s strawberry pie baked from scratch?

Smelling that fresh baked pie smell… Being the one to have the first bite… Not to mention licking the bowls while waiting for the yummy goodness to bake!

Strawberries began making an appearance on the fresh market lately, so pie season is officially open!

Even though nothing compares to Nanna’s pies, turns out baking one from scratch is not all that complicated!

With this type of pastry pie, the good news is  you can replace the strawberries with any other fresh fruit: wild fruit or other berries, apricot, plums… Or you could just use jam or chocolate cream and not add any fruit at all!

Now, lace your aprons and let’s start baking! Continue reading “Strawberry pie baked from scratch”

plum dumplings homemade recipe

Plum dumplings

This plum dumplings recipe is so finger licking good, you’ll definitely go for seconds!

My mom used to make this when I was little and boy, did I jump for joy each time!

It does take a while to prepare though, but the instructions are very easy to follow. And the effort is definitely worthwhile.

I usually prepare these dumplings when Black Amber plums or Victoria plums are in season, but plums can successfully be replaced by peaches. The result is equally yummy!

Plum dumplings are great to serve for lunch or dinner, but if you manage to make them a tad smaller than the ones in the photos below, you could even have them as a snack in between meals. Just.. don’t overdo it. They contain fruit but they are still high in calories (I’ve narrowed it down to about 100 calories /dumpling). Continue reading “Plum dumplings”

Seriously, you’ll probably have to hide it from anyone with a sweet tooth in your family. Otherwise, you’ll end up like me: baking it, smelling it…watching it melt away in someone else’s mouth.

Ever since I discovered this recipe, I started baking more often. It rarely happens that we have chocolate lying around the house, but when we do, I know exactly what to do with it!

But enough chit chat, here’s how to bake a delicious flourless chocolate orange cake: Continue reading “Flourless chocolate orange cake”

one pot spicy cheesy pasta

One pot spicy cheesy pasta

Looking to cook a super-fast meal? Try this one pot spicy cheesy pasta!

It’s delicious, it’s quick and – best of all – it’s really cheesy!

Whenever I find myself strapped for time, I often throw some pasta in a pot and come up with something quick to ‘match’ it with. Usually, it’s a creamy, quick to prepare sauce (and it usually involves lots of cheese!)

This recipe is particularly cheesy, since it has mozzarella cheese added to the sauce and grated parmesan as a bonus.

I often cook this for dinner, but you can very well serve it for lunch as well!

Enjoy! Continue reading “One pot spicy cheesy pasta”
