You know what? I can't even remember how many times I've said to myself "I'll start working out tomorrow" or "today is the 23rd... I'll just wait for the 1st of next month!". I can make an entire list of excuses, here they are: I'll start tomorrow I'll wait until the Holidays are over My arms feel sore, I'll skip today I'll start on the 1st I can't right now, I have to study I'll start on Monday I can't afford to go to a good gym I can't do this by myself but can't afford a trainer ... and that's not all. Well, you know what happened? I'll tell you what happened, I gained 22 pounds because of these excuses. That's right, 22 pounds (10 kilos) in a few months! Drinks affect your weight loss!

Drinks affect your weight loss!

Weight loss
A healthy diet doesn't imply only eating the right things, you have to be careful about what you drink too. Drinking the wrong things can lead to - get this - a weight gain! Do you have any idea how much sugar they put in a soda? About this much: Roughly, this is what we drink when having a soda with our meals. Ok, I may be exaggerating, but you should read the labels on sodas. You'll see that the amount of sugar they put in is quite high. For example, a can of Pepsi has roughly 150 calories and 41 grams of sugar. One single can! That translates to: sodas are not good for your diet and you should slowly replace them with water or natural juice. Since I mentioned it, let's talk about 'natural juices'. Have you ever read the label on one of those "natural" juice boxes? No
Motivate yourself to lose that weight!

Motivate yourself to lose that weight!

Weight loss
Anything you want to do in life starts with the motivation to do it. You want to buy a new shirt because you believe you'll look good in it and that motivates you. You go ahead and ask for a raise because the money motivates you. You want to lose weight because... well, it depends. Here's my own 'list' of why I chose to lose weight: I want to be healthy I want to look great I want to wear tight tops and shorts again I want to fit in my new pair of jeans (funny story: I ordered a pair of jeans online and instead of my size, I got a smaller size but I decided I WILL fit in those jeans) Simply because I CAN. That's right, if the contestants on The Biggest Loser can lose that many pounds, it means that anyone can do this. Now, everyone knows how hard it is to lose weig...

BMR: basal metabolic rate

Weight loss
The first thing to do before starting to lose weight is to calculate your BMR. Your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is a number. This number that represents the amount of energy that your own body needs to stay alive and to function at rest. Basically, this number tells you how many calories you need to take in in order for your heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, intestine, sex organs, muscles, and skin to keep functioning. These are the vital organs so you cannot mess with the BMR! Let's see how to calculate the BMR: For both men and women there's a formula used to calculate the BMR. For women, the formula is: 655 + 9.56*(Weight) + 1.85*(Height) - 4.68*(Age) where the Weight is measured in Kilograms, the Height in centimeters and the age in years. To transform these we ha

How many times have you read that "this diet will help you lose weight?" How many times have you heard that "these magic pills will make you lose those extra pounds"?
